1st February 2011:  SPITFIRE TRIBUTE MEMORIAL On 15th September 2010 I was notified that my design shown below had been selected to go on a shortlist of six designs and would undergo a structural and feasibility study with the Southampton University engineering department.  Following that a decision would be made by the Board.

On November 7th that decision was announced.  You may have seen in the press that the winning concept was not one of the published six shortlisted designs. Although the winning design was originally submitted on time it was initially overlooked by the Judges.  The design was added to the shortlist after some of the initial press coverage, however we were not in any way informed of this decision and were continually referred to as the SIX finalists in all correspondences.  Currently there is a legal investigation in process and the competition is being investigated by the BBC Inside out program.  Date of broadcast TBC.
