About Chris Draper

Chris Draper SAI is an award winning illustrator and architectural designer with over ten years experience working for architectural practices, developers and private individuals.  His work has been widely published in journals, and as an integral part of planning and sales brochures.

Chris studied architecture at Portsmouth University where he achieved a first class honours degree and diploma with distinction.  Following this Chris worked for several high profile architectural practices including Patel Taylor and Robert Adam.  Although diametrically opposed stylistically both focus on highly crafted and carefully detailed buildings that reflect the tactile needs of the users.  However it was in the field of fine art where his career and training began.  After completing an art foundation  course  Chris went on to the Prince of Wales's Institute of Architecture in 1993 where he was able to combine his painting with interest in architecture

  

He has won several awards including a prestigious RIBA award for a sustainable business park, was runner up in the Measured Drawing competition to celebrate the 60th birthday of HRH The Prince of Wales, The  Philip Webb award in 2000 and was runner up in the international competition to design a new Armed Forces memorial at Alwares.  He has exhibited at the Royal Academy summer exhibition and produced images for St Pauls and Bury St Edmunds Cathedrals.  Chris has been an architectural consultant and illustrator with the Princes Foundation Inquiry by Design, and taught watercolour painting to Portsmouth architecture students on their Rome field trips.
